Our Gynecomastia Specialists Discuss Treatment Options
Fluctuating hormones are just one possible factor that can lead to gynecomastia; genetics or complications from drug use may also lead to enlarged male breasts. Before seeking cosmetic treatment for this condition, it is important to consult with your physician to rule out more serious conditions of the liver or endocrine system.
Once you are given medical clearance by our Advanced Cosmetic Surgery Team, they can safely and effectively sculpt your chest area and restore your confidence.

Laser Liposuction Option
Many cases of gynecomastia can be successfully treated with laser liposuction at our AAAHC accredited surgical suites performing breast surgery for men. This outpatient procedure is performed under local anesthesia while the patient is comfortably awake.
After the affected area is numb, a tiny incision is made in the breast tissue. The laser fiber is inserted into the incision and goes to work melting fat tissue.
A straw-like cannula gently suctions away the melted fat. This surgery may take from two to three hours, depending on the complexity of the case. In that time frame, more attractive and completely natural looking contours are created.
For More Extreme Cases
In cases where gynecomastia is especially prominent, it is sometimes necessary to remove the excess breast tissue as well as any extra skin resulting from the condition. This procedure is performed under local anesthesia under the skilled hand of one of our cosmetic or plastic surgeons.
Incisions are made in or near the areola, as well as at the outer edge of the breast. Excess skin and fat are removed as needed to create natural contours. If needed, the nipple, areola, and underlying tissue will be repositioned to facilitate a completely natural appearance.
There are some cases where a combination of these two procedures is especially effective, such as when the male breast contains extra glandular tissue. The Advanced Cosmetic Surgery Team have treated a great number of our gynecomastia NY patients who underwent breast surgery for men and can best determine the type of procedure most suitable for sculpting the most natural contour that fits your body.
After surgical correction, a compression garment is applied to reduce swelling, which must be worn for two weeks. In the month following the procedure, patients are advised to avoid strenuous activity to allow for proper healing. Full results are visible over several months, as swelling completely recedes.
